A letter has emerged purportedly authorized by Kogi State Government querying the paramount traditional ruler of Ebira Land, the Ohinoyi of Ebiraland, Ado Ibrahim, over his actions considered to be disloyal and disrespectful to the offices and persons of President Muhammadu Buhari and Governor Yahaya Bello.
In the query addressed to the prominent monarch, dated January 5, 2023 and signed by the Director of Chieftaincy Affairs, Enimola Eniola, on behalf of the State’s Commissioner for Local Governments and Chieftaincy Affairs, the traditional ruler was accused of exhibiting deliberate attitude and actions capable of bringing “Kogi State and Ebiraland in particular to grave disrepute.”
According to the query, the Ohinoyi of Ebiraland, Ado Ibrahim refused to come out and receive the President at the designated venue, which was rightly approved by the Governor and conveyed to him
The statement adds that the action is an act of insubordination and disloyalty to the President and laying bad precedence for Traditional Institution of the State.
With the letter already eliciting reactions on the social media, President General of the Ebira People’s Association, Godwin Oyibo, called on all sons and daughters of Ebira land to be circumspect on the issue because of its perplexity.

The Ebira People’s Association in the statement, appealed particularly to Governor Yahaya Bello to manage the situation such that his already well established and noticeable gains in maintaining peace and security for which he has received several accolades is not rubbished.
The Ebira socio-cultural body cautioned against any act, utterances and postures that could potentially snowball or precipitate semblance of violence as it was in the past in Ebiraland.
While hoping that the Governor will put his gains in security above the issues at stake, the Ebira People’s Association advised the Kogi State Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs and the Palace of the Ohinoyi of Ebiraland to resolve whatever differences that exist, in the interest of peace and development of Ebiraland.
At the time of filing this report, the Chief Press Secretary has not confirmed whether or not the Governor authorised the query which was signed by a director in the ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy affairs.
