The Kogi State Police Command has urged residents to fully comply with the directive of Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo on the temporary closure of selected markets and motor parks in parts of the state, particularly within the Kogi West Senatorial District.

In a statement issued on Sunday, the Police Public Relations Officer, Assistant Superintendent of Police Salisu Oyiza Afusat, said the directive by the state government is aimed at supporting ongoing security operations being carried out in collaboration with the Office of the National Security Adviser and other sister security agencies.

According to the statement, the Commissioner of Police called on residents, traders, and transport operators in the affected areas to strictly adhere to the directive throughout the period of the security operations.

The police spokesperson explained that the temporary shutdown affects selected markets and motor parks in parts of Lokoja, Kabba-Bunu, Yagba West, Yagba East, Kogi, and Mopamuro Local Government Areas, as earlier announced by the state government.

She added that members of the public are advised to plan their activities accordingly, noting that compliance with the directive will be closely monitored.

ASP Afusat said the Commissioner of Police appreciates the patience and cooperation of residents of the affected communities and reassured the people of Kogi State of the Command’s unwavering commitment to the protection of lives and property.

She further encouraged members of the public to remain law-abiding and promptly report any suspicious activities to the nearest police station or through the Command’s emergency control room numbers: 0703 832 9084 and 0815 219 5982.

The statement emphasized that the Kogi State Police Command, under the leadership of Commissioner of Police Naziru Bello Kankarofi, remains committed to sustaining peace and security across the state and calls for the continued cooperation of all residents.
