An umbrella body of legal practitioners from Kogi state, known as Kogi state lawyers of thought has called on the international community to call Governor Yahaya Bello to order over what they describe as alleged extrajudicial killings, arrests and political intimidation of citizens of the state.

The lawyers said this on Tuesday in Abuja when they submitted a petition to the United Nations, United States and other international bodies.

According to the lawyers, citizens of Kogi state have come under intense violence, threat to life and most recently killings across the state.

The group says the development assumed a disturbing dimension after the 2023 general election as efforts are now been channeled towards preparation for the November 11, 2023 governorship election.

They also called on President Bola Tinubu to, as a matter of urgency, pay attention to the issues raised to ensure a violent free election in November 2023.
