The Nigerian Navy says there is need for stronger community collaboration in efforts to effectively eliminate banditry and terrorism in Kogi State.
The Commander of the Nigerian Navy Ship (NNS) Lugard Lokoja, Commodore Adeshola Ojo, who said this during a medical outreach in Okene, explained that the government will not negotiate with criminal elements threatening national security.
The medical outreach conducted by NNS Lugard in Okene, Kogi State, aligns with the directive of the Chief of Naval Staff, Rear Admiral Idi Abbas, to strengthen civil–military cooperation and enhance security across host communities.
The Commander of the Nigerian Navy Ship Lugard Lokoja, Commodore Adeshola Ojo, reaffirmed the Federal Government’s stance and therefore urged citizens to provide timely and credible information that will help security agencies stamp out terrorism and banditry in Kogi State.
He commended the host community for its unwavering support, noting that such cooperation has been instrumental to the Navy’s operational successes while assuring them of the Navy’s commitment to safeguarding lives and property across the state.
Kogi State Governor Usman Ododo reaffirmed his administration’s determination to flush out terrorists from their hideouts and restore lasting peace.
Beneficiaries of the medical outreach expressed appreciation for the free services provided.
The Nigerian Navy also distributed free mosquito nets and sanitary pads to students as well as essential drugs and conducted various medical tests as part of the outreach Programme.
