Kogi State Government has denied reports of retrenchment in Local Government Councils of the State, saying the story was manufactured to create unnecessary tension in the state civil service.
Reacting to media reports which surfaced in some sections of the media on Thursday, the State Commissioner for Information and Communications, Kinsley Fanwo said the government is not considering any retrenchment in any guise.
The commissioner said he does not know where the unfounded rumor emanated from and how it is spreading like a wild fire.
The statement added that, what is going on is the implementation of the amnesty granted workers who violated the civil service rules, a magnanimity and love for the civil servants, shown by the state governor, Yahaya Bello.

He noted that despite the amnesty, there is need for right grading of the affected civil servants, with a call on the general public to ignore the rumor of retrenchment as speculated in some sections of the media.
