Residents of the Egbeda-Egga community in the Ijumu Local Government Area of Kogi State are counting their losses after a violent rainstorm swept through their area.
The neighbouring community of Ekinrin-Adde was also affected, with homes, business structures, schools, and churches heavily damaged and leaving many families displaced.
Traditional rulers in the affected communities say urgent intervention is needed to assist displaced families to rebuild damaged structures.
Local authorities say steps are being taken to assess the damage and coordinate assistance for victims.

The Kogi State Emergency Management Agency says it is monitoring the situation and will work with relevant agencies to provide relief materials.
As residents begin salvaging what remains of their homes, many emphasize that full recovery will hinge on prompt intervention by government authorities and humanitarian organizations.
For now, families in Egbeda-Egga and neighbouring Ekinrin-Adde communities in Ijumu Local Government Area are anxiously waiting for assistance to arrive before the next rainfall.
