Nasarawa State Police Command has arrested another escapee from the Kuje Correctional Centre in the Federal Capital Territory Abuja, following an attack on the facility in August 2022.
The state’s Police Public Relations Officer, Deputy Superintendent of Police, DSP Rahman Nansel, while briefing newsmen in Lafia, said the escapee, Haruna Sunday, was arrested in Karu Local Government Area of the state, for his alleged involvement in criminal activities.
The arrest of Haruna Sunday brings to three, the number of Kuje jailbreak escapees apprehended by the police in Nasarawa State so far.
The Police spokesperson added that his arrest followed complaints from some residents of the area, of persistent cases of forceful snatching of mobile phones and invasion of some homes allegedly by the suspect.

The suspect, Haruna Sunday who confessed to the crime, said he escaped from the Kuje Correctional Centre during the jailbreak in 2022, fled to Kaduna State, but later moved to the Masaka area in Karu Local Government of Nasarawa State.
Seventeen other suspects were arrested by the police for alleged kidnapping, armed robbery and dealing in hard drugs.
Items recovered from the suspects include 900,000 Naira cash, arms and ammunition, as well as bags of dried leaves, suspected to be Indian hemp.
