Following the recent decision of the federal government to reopen four more borders earlier shut, the Kwara state chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture is appealing to the federal government to reopen the Chikanda and Barbara borders between Kwara and Niger states to promote trade along the said corridors.

The President of KWACCIMA Olalekan Ayodimeji made the call in Ilorin the state capital on the sideline of the planned 62nd Annual General Meeting/conference of the National Association of Chambers of Commerce, Industry Mines and Agriculture in Ilorin where he noted that traders and people in the affected communities are quite challenged with the continued closure of the border.

The association also lamented the high indebtedness of the country, which it said has negatively impacted on national economy.

The body also expressed disappointment over Nigeria’s inability to take advantage of the present hike in international crude oil prices due to her inability to meet production quota as a result of massive crude oil theft.
