The 2023 Presidential candidate of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, has dismissed widespread rumours about a possible defection, reaffirming his unwavering loyalty to the party as it prepares for the 2027 general elections.

Speaking at the 9th National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting of the NNPP in Abuja, Kwankwaso clarified that the gathering was not intended to announce any political switch, contrary to public speculation.

Reiterating his commitment to the NNPP, the former Kano State governor and ex-Minister of Defence emphasized that while the party remains focused, it is also open to constructive political dialogue.

Meanwhile, the party’s leadership announced that preparations are underway for an internal transition, as the tenure of the current National Working Committee (NWC), elected in April 2022, draws to a close.

In a call to civic responsibility, the NNPP urged Nigerians to participate in the ongoing continuous voter registration exercise conducted by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), stressing that voter participation remains critical for democratic progress.

The NEC meeting served as a strategic platform for the NNPP to consolidate its growing national influence and reaffirm its readiness for the 2027 elections.
