After days of intense operations by security forces and government representatives, Kwara State Governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq has announced the freedom of 38 persons abducted in the recent attack on Christ Apostolic Church (CAC), Oke-Isegun, Eruku, Ekiti LGA, Kwara State.
In a statement by Rafiu Ajakaye, Chief Press Secretary to the Kwara State Governor, the government confirmed the development.
The statement notes that the Governor attributes the successful rescue wholly to the hands-on approach of President Bola Tinubu, who personally led coordinated national efforts to secure the abductees’ release.
The Governor expressed gratitude to the President for spearheading the rescue mission.
The President had earlier cancelled his scheduled trip to the G20 Meeting in South Africa to address the security breaches in Kwara and Kebbi States, directing heightened deployments to Kwara in clear demonstration of his commitment to citizen safety.
The Governor also extended appreciation to the Office of the National Security Adviser, the Department of State Services (DSS), the Nigerian Army, the Nigeria Intelligence Agency, and the Nigeria Police, which deployed four new tactical teams to Kwara on presidential orders.
He further thanked all security personnel, religious institutions, and the people of Kwara for their support and solidarity.
