The Joint Labour Congress in Kwara State has issued a 14-day ultimatum to the State Government for the implementation of the recently approved National Minimum wage of N30,000.
The Chairman of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) in the state, Issa Ore, disclosed this shortly after the union’s congress.
Ore noted that the development was necessary, following the refusal of the state government to commence the payment of the minimum wage, after several negotiations.

He added that the union demands for the immediate signing and implementation of the minimum wage, for all categories of state workers, as well as an upward review of the negotiated minimum wage by 50%.
The Acting State Chairman of the Trade Union Congress, Ezekiel Adegoke, and other labour leaders want the state government to do the needful, to avert the pending strike.
The Chief Press Secretary to the Kwara State Governor, Rafiu Ajakaye has noted that negotiation is still on going with the labour unions and there won’t be need for industrial action by the workers.
