In what appears to be a sweeping crackdown on criminal activities across Kwara State, the Kwara State Police Command has arrested over seventeen suspected kidnappers operating in different parts of the state. Among those apprehended is a fifteen-year-old suspect linked to a case of culpable homicide. Ten operational motorcycles and other dangerous items were also recovered from the suspects.

The State Commissioner of Police, Adekimi Ojo, disclosed this during a press conference at the Command Headquarters in Ilorin, while briefing journalists on recent security improvements across the state.

According to the Commissioner of Police, the arrests followed intensified intelligence-driven operations, strengthened tactical deployments, and improved collaboration with other security agencies aimed at tackling violent crimes such as kidnapping, unlawful possession of firearms, and other threats to public safety.

The police boss, who also presented some of the recovered exhibits including ten Bajaj Boxer motorcycles and other items, said the achievements align with the strategic direction and reform-driven vision of the Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Disu. He added that the IGP had earlier led a special security operation in the state before his current appointment.

In a related development, the Kwara State Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Bala Bodinga, confirmed the arrest of two suspected bandits operating in parts of the Kwara North Senatorial District. Items recovered from the suspects include a pistol and sachets of tramadol, among other exhibits.

Security chiefs in the state have assured residents that ongoing operations will be sustained, reiterating their commitment to ensuring peace, safety, and the protection of lives and property across Kwara State.
