The Kwara State Government has announced the reopening of schools across the state, effective Monday, February 2, 2026.
The decision was disclosed on Sunday amid sustained security operations aimed at neutralising threats to public safety, including educational institutions.
In a statement signed by the Commissioner for Education and Human Capital Development, Dr. Lawal Olohungbebe, and made available to Journalists in Ilorin the State capital by the Ministry’s Press Secretary, Peter Amogbonjaye, the government confirmed that all school authorities have been duly informed.
According to the statement, the reopening follows continuous security interventions, which have significantly improved the safety situation across the state compared to previous weeks.
The state government assured residents that security agencies remain on high alert, with ongoing operations to consolidate recent gains, while efforts are being intensified to strengthen community resilience alongside kinetic security measures.
It will be recalled that schools in some of the worst-hit local government areas, including Ifelodun, were earlier shut down due to insecurity.
