Kwara State NDLEA convicts 149 hard drug pushers in one year

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) Kwara State Command has disclosed that it intercepted a total quantity of 1,864.517 kilograms of hard drugs between June 26, 2024 and May 2025 as part of the ongoing fight against the free flow of illicit drugs in the state.

State Commander of the agency, Fatimah Popoola who disclosed this at a press conference as parts of activities to mark 2025 International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking, said drug abuse and trafficking portend great danger to people globally.

Popoola while giving a breakdown of the activities of the command in the months under review said the Command apprehended one thousand and twenty five suspects within the period and one hundred and forty nine of them were convicted and sentenced.

The drug law enforcement agency also carried out a sensitization exercise at Malete community, after identifying the community as another flashpoint for drug abuse.

The Command says it remains committed to stopping people involved in the dangerous act of misusing drugs in the state.
