Kwara teaching applicants indicted for certificate forgery, hard drugs consumption

Five applicants in a recent screening exercise into the teaching profession in kwara state have been linked to falsification of their degree certificates allegedly obtained from the University of Ilorin and the Teachers Registration Council.

The Executive Chairman, Kwara State Teaching Service Commission (TESCOM), Bello Abubakar disclosed this at the quarterly inter-ministerial briefing where he noted that another eight applicants tested positive to taking hard drugs after conducting tests on them.

According to the Chairman of TESCOM, Bello Abubakar one of the disqualified applicants tested positive to three dangerous drugs which include tramadol, coatinin and other drugs with five others said to have forged their degree certificates.

In his own presentation, the state commissioner for works, Abdulquowiy Olododo said the state fire service saved over 192 lives with one casualty recorded between January and march, 2025, safeguiding property worth over 728million naira within the period under review.

The commissioner who advised residents to be safety conscious while using electrical gadgets, also called on them to switch off such gadgets when not in use.
