The Badminton Federation of Nigeria is taking strategic steps to ensure the country secures its first-ever Olympic or Paralympic gold medal at the LA 2028 Games — with Eniola Bolaji at the center of this ambitious drive.
In a bold and symbolic move, the federation has announced a fresh four-year sponsorship package for its most promising para-badminton star, Eniola Bolaji.
The formal signing of the Memorandum of Understanding sealed the Federation’s commitment to nurturing Eniola’s immense potential — with one clear target: a gold medal at the 2028 Paralympic Games in Los Angeles.
The sponsorship, will cover equipment, training, and international competition trips — a crucial lifeline for an athlete with eyes firmly set on the podium.
Thanks to the sponsorship, Eniola, who previously clinched bronze at the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games is now guaranteed participation in nine major international tournaments over the next three years — a game-changer in terms of exposure and experience.
Speaking at the ceremony, Chairman of the National Sports Commission, Shehu Dikko, expressed strong confidence in the partnership. Drawing from his own experience with GIG Logistics, he reassured stakeholders of the government’s ongoing efforts to provide incentives for private sector involvement in sports development.
In the past, poor preparation, underfunding, and lack of sponsorship have stifled Nigeria’s presence at major international badminton events — particularly the Olympics. But the Federation is determined to rewrite that story.
With the “Eniola’s Road to LA 28” project now underway, expectations are high. As the saying goes, to whom much is given, much is expected. Now, the shuttle is in Eniola’s court to ensure that this historic investment delivers golden returns.
