The crisis rocking the opposition, Labour Party appears deeper as The Julius Abure-led faction has announced that the Party’s Presidential ticket for the 2027 election would not be reserved for the party’s 2023 Presidential candidate, Peter obi.

The Faction made the announcement at the National Executive Council meeting in Abuja following a meeting held in umuahia, Abia state where some members formed a caretaker committee to run the party affairs in the interim.

Last week, A 29-man caretaker committee to lead the Labour Party in the interim was set up by some members including the 2023 Presidential candidate, Peter Obi, Abia state governor, Alex Otti, elected senators and House of Representatives members under the party’s platform.

Contrary to the Umuahia agreement, the Embattled National Chairman, Julius Abure and the National Secretary, umar Ibrahim at the faction’s National Executive Committee meeting held in Abuja, signed a communique to nullify the decisions taken at the stakeholders meeting held in Umuahia, Abia state.

The Abure-led faction also asserted that Otti lacked authority to lead the meeting, quoting section 14 (4) (B) of the Labour party’s constitution.

Abure threatened that his embattled leadership will fight back any Governor under the platform of the party that attempts to harass and kick him out of the office.

He urged his members to support him to nurture the party to deliver Nigerians the needed change towards ending economic hardships and other challenges confronting the nation.
