Members of the Association of senior Civil Servants of Nigeria, ASCSN has vowed to occupy the Office of the Accountant-General of the Federation in Garki II District of Abuja from Monday until he leaves office.

The Union in a statement says it has concluded mobilisation if its members to storm the Office in order to assist him proceed on retirement.

The AGF turned 60 years of age on Wednesday, November 25, 2020 and should have vacated the office on that day but has been quoted to say he could not be subjected to guidelines on retirement in the service, since he owes his allegiance to the Presidency.

The Union regrets that in spite of the very clear provision on retirement in the Civil Service, some heads of agencies continue to sit tight in their offices refusing to exit the service.

The Union says there are about 200 qualified Directors with vast experience to occupy the exalted office as stipulated in Section 86 of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria as amended.

The Public Service Rules 020810 states that “the compulsory retirement age of all grades in the service shall be 60 years or 35 years of pensionable service whichever is earlier”
