The Isa Mustapha Agwai Polytechnic Lafia in Nasarawa State has been shut for one week following a protest by students over the closure of the registration portal and increment of fees for late registration.
Provost of the Polytechnic, Justina Kosto who gave the directive for the closure, said the decision was the best for now to protect students who have concluded the process as well as the institution where some buildings have already been destroyed during the protest.

The provost said the school management is yet to understand the reason for the protest some of the polytechnic students who spoke to ait.live said they were protesting the closure of the registration portal and increment of late registration fees from 5000 to 10,000 naira.
The provost denied the claim by the students and said the polytechnic management has set up a committee to look into the root cause of the students’ action.
