Kogi, Benue , Bayelsa, and Delta states have been put on high alert by the National Space Research and Development Agency, NASRDA, amid news of the release of water by authorities of the Lagdo dam in Cameroun.
NASRDA Director General , Matthew Adepoju, at a briefing in Abuja, said reports from its monitoring team show a sharp in the inflow of water in August and September this year.
The agency is also advising southern states to brace up for what it calls ‘imminent floods’ and called on relevant authorities to activate measures that will mitigate the impact of the flood on the people and their property.
On the earth tremor in Mpape, a suburb of Abuja, which created some panic, the NASRDA DG urged residents to remain calm and go about their normal businesses.
He described the risk of danger to residents as minimal amid fears raised of the likelihood of an earthquake in the hilly FCT suburb.
