Six men incarcerated since the past 4 years over their alleged participation in #EndSARSnl protests across Lagos State which turned violent, with several lives lost and property destroyed, have regained their freedom.

The protesters who were charged with breach of public peace were released by a Chief Magistrate Court sitting in Ikeja on Thursday.

The released protesters identified as; Daniel Joyinbo, Adigun Sodiq, Kehinde Shola, Salaudeen Kamilu, Sodiq Useni and Azeez Isiaka had entered a plea bargain agreement.

They pleaded guilty to a single count charge of breach of public peace brought on behalf of the Lagos State government by the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP), Babajide Martins.

Following the agreement, the Chief Magistrate, Bola Osunsanmi found the defendant’s guilty and convicted them of the offence.

The Court later discharged them as Chief Magistrate exercised leniency and cautioned them, considering their prolonged detention of almost 4 year.
