In a bid to improve environmental monitoring capacity for safety and sustainability, the Lagos State Government has established the first International Standard Organisations, ISO, certified ultra-modern laboratory in Nigeria.
Governor Babajide Sanwo-olu at the unveiling of the upgraded and re-equipped laboratory said it will further improve the quality of life of residents of Lagos State.
The unveiling of the first government-owned laboratory in Nigeria, another first recorded by the Lagos state government in its environmental protection drive.
Governor Sanwo-Olu who was represented by the Commissioner for Environment and Water Resources, Tunji Bello, said upgrading of the laboratory of the Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency, LASEPA became necessary as a result of the growing population of the state and the need to enhance the agency’s capacity to effectively deliver on its core mandate.

LASEPA General Manager, Dolapo Fasawe described the ISO-certified laboratory as a boost in the monitoring of activities of industrial, commercial and government entities to ensure compliance with environmental management laws of the state.
The laboratory now has a state-of-the-art environmental laboratory equipment and engineering processes in line with ISO guidelines and best practices.
