Residents of Aku-Enu community in Igbotiti Local Government Area of Enugu State, South-East Nigeria are calling on the State Government to intervene in the ongoing land dispute with its neighbouring Ikolo community.
Leaders of Aku-Enu community allege that some sponsored youths from Ikolo community carried out an attack at night destroying newly constructed houses and farmlands in the area. They also claim that the land where the youths attacked was about 4 kilometres away from the disputed area and wondered why such action.
ait.live gathered that the age-long land dispute between the two neighbouring communities was laid to rest sometime ago only to resurface in 2015. Community leaders say the State Government that is aware of the dispute promised to demarcate the area for lasting peace but nothing has been done till date.

Although no lives were lost in the renewed attacks, residents of Aku-Enu community want the State Government to take concrete steps to bring peace between the two communities to prevent any bloodshed. During a visit to the Ikolo community to get their own side of the story, all the people contacted declined comments on the matter.
