Late Rosemary Mohogbone Wilkie of Africa Independent Television, AIT continues to get recognition even after her death, with the latest being an award for exceptional and outstanding labour reporting in 2023.
The posthumous award was presented in honour of the late reporter by President of the Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria, PENGASSAN, Festus Osifo, at a gala and award night in Abuja to mark the end of the third edition of the three-day Energy and Labour Summit 2024.
Rosemary Mohogbone Wilkie died on January 25, 2024. Until her death, she was Head of the Labour beat and presenter of Policy on Trac on the AIT Network.
She wrote and discussed so many stories that affected government policies and activities of labour unions positively. The stories also touched and transformed the performance of individual labour leaders such as the PENGASSAN President, Festus Osifo.
Today, Osifo and his union, PENGASSAN, remember the positive impact of late Wilkie’s stories and programmes to their growth and development, among tens of Labour unions across various sectors.
A few other labour correspondents, a host of PENGASSAN members, guest speakers, oil and gas industry players, and government officials also received categories of awards
Another high point of the event was the cash award to winners of the junior and senior secondary school PENGASSAN National Essay Competition, as well as the unveiling of the PENGASSAN Foundation.
During the three-day event, the PENGASSAN President joined other speakers to profer solutions to the myriad of challenges confronting Nigeria’s oil and gas sector from production, distribution, consumption, theft, divestment, and workers welfare to the embrace of new innovations brought about by Artificial intelligence, AI.
