It has been a period of mourning at the Ernest Etim Bassey Press Centre in Calabar, the Cross River State capital, South-South Nigeria where the remains of the late State Chairman of Sports Writers Association of Nigeria, SWAN, Albert Archibong Andinam laid in state.
The deceased who was former Secretary of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ in the Cross River State Council was a sport enthusiast before he suffered from an undisclosed ailment that led to his death at the University of Calabar Teaching Hospital on the May 8.
State NUJ Chairman, Victor Udu described the late union scribe as a veteran whose contributions to the pen profession were immeasurable.
Udu recalled when the late SWAN Chairman was the secretary of the Cross River State Council, and his effort to improve the welfare of his colleagues.
Speaking at a funeral service in his honour, the Associate Minister in charge of the Presbyterian Church of Nigeria, Hope Waddell Parish, Calabar, Very Rev John Abah Vincent, described death as a necessary end that will come to any man.
Albert Archibong Andinam was buried at the Eyo Eta Cemetery in Calabar and until his death, he was the Deputy Sports Editor of the Nigerian Chronicle.
