A section of the popular Alayabiagba market located at Mile 2 area of Lagos was engulfed by fire late Saturday at about 9.30 pm throwing Residents and business owners into panic mode.
Fire fighters and other emergency responders who rushed to the scene of the incident battled frantically to prevent the fire from spreading any further to surrounding areas, while other officials on ground controlled traffic ensuring safety of road users.
This incident marks one of the rare late-night fire outbreaks in recent times recorded along the busy Mile 2 axis, a major commercial and transport corridor in Lagos state.
As at the time of filing this report, the extent of property damage and possible casualties had yet to be confirmed by the authorities concerned.
