Late Sir Victor Uwaifo goes home

The state burial of the late High Life music legend, Sir Victor Efosa Uwaifo has started in Edo State, South-South Nigeria.

His body is lying in state at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium in the state capital, Benin City.

The State Government has immortalized the late music maestro professor Victor Uwaifo by naming the state creative hub after him.

Governor Godwin Obaseki disclosed this at the lying in state and requiem mass of the late former Commissioner for art and culture held at the Samuel Ogbemudia stadium Benin city.

The remains of late professor Victor Efosa Uwaifo arrived Samuel Ogbemudia stadium, Benin city on Friday October 15 2021 for lying in state and requiem mass.

Uwaifos’ children took turns for the bible reading.

The ArchBishop of Benin Archdiocese, Augustine Akubeze in his message, eulogized the late music legend, Sir Victor Uwaifo, describing him as an accomplished man.

Governor Godwin Obaseki, his wife Betsy, the state deputy governor philip Shaibu and other top Government official as well as the former governor of the state Adams Oshiomhole, were among top dignitaries who graced the occasion to pay their last Respect to the music legend.

As at the time of this report, the body of late professor Victor Efosa Uwaifo has been taken to his house for interment.

He was born on march 1, 1941 and died on the 28 of August 2021 at the age of 80.
