Bayelsa State Governor, Senator Douye Diri, has again called for stronger collaboration among the three arms of government for effective governance.
The Governor made the call at a church service to mark the commencement of the 2025/2026 Legal Year in Yenagoa.
The interdenominational service held in Yenagoa brought together members of the judiciary, legislature, and executive, alongside top legal practitioners from within and outside the state.
Governor Diri, in his remarks, emphasized the importance of unity and mutual respect among the arms of government, noting that harmonious working relationships remained vital to delivering the dividends of democracy to the people.
The Governor further reiterated the need for an independent judiciary, calling for greater support for the third arm of government to ensure growth, stability, and the entrenchment of justice in the country.
The Legal Year ceremony, traditionally observed nationwide, provides an opportunity for the judiciary to assess its performance over the past year and renew its commitment to efficient justice delivery.
In Bayelsa, the thanksgiving service formally signals the beginning of activities for the 2025/26 Legal Year in the state.
