LG autonomy: New Chairmen must work with Bauchi State Govt – Gov. Moh’d

Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed has called on the newly elected 20 Local Government Chairmen to work in close collaboration with the State Government in ensuring that dividends of democracy reaches down to the people at the grassroots.

The Governor made the call during the official inauguration of the newly elected Local Government Council Chairmen on Sunday in Bauchi State, North-East Nigeria .

The Dr. Rilwanu Sulaiman Adamu Square was filled to capacity as the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP supporters across the state gathered to witness the official inauguration of the 29 newly elected Local Government Chairmen who won the just concluded local council elections all on the platform of the ruling party in the State.

State Chief Judge, Justice Rabi Umar administered the oath of office and oath of allegiance as Governor Bala Mohammed watched keenly.

While congratulating the newly sworn in Council Chairmen, Governor Mohammed, said the party’s victory at the just concluded Local Government elections is a clear manifestation of the trust the people of Bauchi State have in the PDP-led administration through the execution of various developmental projects across the state.

With the recent granting of local government autonomy, the Governor said the Party carefully presented candidates that will judiciously handle resources of the local councils there by soliciting their support and cooperation to work in synergy with the State Government in order to impact positively on the lives of the teaming electorate.

Speaking on behalf of the new 20 council chairmen, the Chairman of Bauchi Local Government, Mahmood Babama’aji assured of their readiness to deliver good governance to the people of their respective local governments in line with the policies and programmes of Governor Bala Mohammed led administration.

This is the second time local government council elections will be conducted under the administration of Governor Mohammed since he assumed office in 2019.
