LG Congress: APC adopts consensus arrangement in Kwara, Ekiti and parts of Lagos State

Members of the All Progressives Congress, APC, across the 16 local government areas in Kwara State on Saturday joined other members of the party across the country to elect their local government executives.

At one of the local government areas monitored by ait.live, the exercise was generally peaceful, as party members adopted a consensus arrangement in picking their local government executives.

Speaking during the exercise, one of the national officials who monitored the exercise Muhammad Kabir expressed satisfaction on the peaceful conduct of the congress.

In Ekiti State,the All progressives Congress APC, held it’s local government congress in Ekiti state as directed by the national caretaker committee. The election which was largely peaceful produced candidates who emerged by affirmation.

The returning officer across the sixteen local government areas of Ekiti state, and chairman of the ward Congress committee, Yusuff Galabi, noted that his committee was yet to receive complaints from party members since arriving the state for Saturday’s Congress.

In Ifako-Ijaye local government area of Lagos State,Members of the All Progressives Congress party conducted their local government congress peacefully through voice votes.

Members who started arriving at the venue of the Congress as early as eight in the morning chorused yes to names of the selected members to form the 27 man local government executive.

Chairman of the local government’s Congress electoral committee, Sultan Adeniji-Adele, said the committee gave it’s approval to voice votes as proposed by members of the party in the area.

A chieftain of the party in the local government, Benjamin Olabinjo described the process of electing the new officials as transparent and widely accepted.

The 27 newly elected local government officials of the party is to be chaired by Deacon Banjo Omole. Present at the Congress are representatives of the independent National electoral commission INEC, and security operatives.
