The ever bustling Okaka surbub in Yenagoa, the Bayelsa State Capital was thrown into an uproar on Friday when the lifeless body of a twenty-five year-old graduate was discovered inside a shallow grave dug inside an apartment in the area.
The prime suspect, Joseph Fikala was arrested when the parents of the deceased and neighbors observed he was acting suspiciously and could not give a convincing account on the whereabouts of the victim, both of whom were said to be living in the same apartment.
When ait.live visited the Okaka Road Area where Kate Ogwo, the Novena university graduate and budding entrepreneur met her brutal end, a large crowd had already gathered , with many trooping to see the corpse which was yet to decompose.
The relationship between Kate and her killer, 27 year Joseph Fekala , was unclear.
The Grieving father of the deceased, Dick Ogwo said Kathy went to stay with her female friend and her brother Joseph, after a misunderstanding with her own mother.
The Bayelsa State Police Commissioner, Ben Nnebolisa described the incident as unfortunate and disclosed that the prime suspect was already in custody.
Nnebolisa explained that preliminary investigations have shown the cause of murder to be strangulation.
