Liquor Licensing Board Seals 5 Beer Parlors, Supermarkets In Niger State

The Niger State Liquor Licensing Board says it has intensified its clampdown on illegal operators in a commando style, where they raided and closed down 5 illegal beer parlors, supermarkets and alcoholic joints in the Bida Local Government Area of Niger State.

In a statement by the board, the operation was led by the Executive Director of Operations, Niger State Liquor Licensing Board, Mohammed Hamisu.

The supermarkets found culpable of marketing and sales of alcoholic beverages were located at the Esso Junction and along Bida Lemu Road, Esso.

A beer parlor that operates near a Juma’at Mosque was also identified, and the Board’s sledgehammer rammed on it, sealing and closing it down.

According to the board, it is in a bid to rid the state of illicit transactions and consumption of alcohol, and alcoholic substances that the Niger State Liquor Licensing Board is in Bida.

The Executive Director of Operations used the medium to warn illegal beer vendors and hotel operators, that harbouring, illicit consumption of alcohol, and supermarket operators who sell alcoholic beverages and beer, to desist forthwith, as the Liquor Licensing Board will not condone illegal beer parlor operators to continue in the state, without obtaining a valid license, and to operate within the confines of the law, and not to operate within the prohibited areas.

It would be recalled that the Board had carried out similar operations in Mokwa, Suleja, Minna and Kagara.
