The need to urgently fix and revive the 774 Local Government Areas across the country has again been highlighted and this is coming from the National President of the Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE), Ambali Hakeem.
During the two-day meeting which held at the Michael Imoudu National Institute for labour studies, Ambali lamented the pitiful and worrisome state of local government administrations in the country saying the state governments are to blame.

The NULGE National President, Ambali Hakeem while lamenting the continuous setback at the grassroots occasioned by alleged misappropriation of local government funds by state governments, called on President Bola Tinubu to as a matter of urgency initiate a special fund to address infrastructural gaps at the local government levels to guarantee their autonomy and mitigate the effects of poverty on Nigerians.
Corroborating the stand of NULGE, the Director General of Michael Imoudu National Institute for Labour Studies, Issa Aremu is of the view that local government is the first and not the third tier of government noting that problems are local and must be solved through local government areas hence the need to handle local government administrations seriously by all
Nigerians at this critical period may be faced with the need to put both Federal and State governments on their toes to ensure that local government autonomy is guaranteed for the good of all.
