The Labour Party’s Ward, Local Government and State congresses reportedly being held across the 36 States and the FCT by the Julius Abure led National Working Committee (NWC) are illegal.
This position is coming from the National Transition Committee (NTC) of the Labour Party set up by the political commission of Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) to ensure an all-inclusive Convention of the Party.
The NTC of the Labour Party in a statement by its chairman, Comrade Abdulwahed Omar said, it is irreversibly committed to guide the Party to conduct a transparent, democratic Ward, LGA and State congresses nationwide for an all-inclusive National Convention.
The Committee said the alleged congresses held in Anambra, Imo, Edo, Rivers, Akwa Ibom, Sokoto, Ondo, Kaduna, Adamawa and other States of the federation by Julius Abure is criminal.
The NTC warns all genuine members of the Labour Party and the general public to disregard any Congress by the Julius Abure led National Working Committee.
The National Transition Committee of the Labour Party was set up by the Political Commission of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) after the purported 2024 National convention of the Party held in Anambra State that returned Julius Abure to a second term in office, but widely discredited by the NLC which described the exercise as illegal.
