All is set for the extradition of 50 year old Malian singer, songwriter and guitarist, Rokia Traore from Italy to Belgium following a 2-year jail sentence handed down on her in a child custody dispute by a Brussels Court in 2023.
Lawyer to the entertainer, Maddalena Claudia Del Re who made this public on Thursday, September 26, 2024 noted that Rokia is expected to be transferred to Belgium within the next 10 days.
In October 2023, she was sentenced in absentia to a 2-year prison term on charges bordering on parental abduction; for failing to adhere to a Court order to hand over her child to her Belgian father.
In June 2024, she was arrested in Italy but challenged the extradition order.
