It was a tragic moment in Fujeregi village in Gbako Local Government Area of Niger State when a man identified as Muhammad Ma’aba was reportedly killed by the ex-husband of a woman called Fatima Suleiman who he intended to marry.
According to a source, Ma’aba was ambushed on the road between Saganuwa and Fujeregi by a group allegedly led by the suspect, Alhaji Yikangi, from Chikan village.
Confirming the incident, spokesman of the police in the state, Wasi’u Abiodun said what led to the attack is a long-standing dispute between the two men over Fatima.
It was gathered that Fatima was previously married to Alhaji Yikangi but had been divorced by him three times, under Islamic law, making reconciliation impossible.

The police spokesman added that the victim was beaten into a coma before he was rushed to Lemu General Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
The police said investigations are ongoing and efforts are being made to arrest all those involved in the crime.
