As part of measures to enhance maritime security, combat illicit activities and promote economic growth in Benue State the Nigerian Navy has approved the establishment of a Naval operational base in the State.
This was made known at the Government House Makurdi when the committee from the Naval Headquarters led by M.G Oamen visited to carry out a feasibility study of the area allocated for the project.
An earlier request by the Chief security officer of the State Governor Hyacinth Alia is honoured by the Nigerian Navy.
This 4 man delegation from the Naval headquarters disclose the good news during this courtesy visit at the Government house Makurdi.
Responding Governor Hyacinth Alia appreciated the prompt response of the chief of Naval staff for heeding his call assuring the committee of a seamless take off.
Alia says once the feasibility of the base is concluded the State Government would furnish the Naval headquarters with the survey plan and certificate of occupancy of the land allocated for the base.
