MC Oluomo Emerges President National Union of Road Transport Workers

Former Chairman of the Lagos State Council of the National Union of Road Transport Workers, Musiliu Akinsanya has been unanimously elected as the new national President of the NURTW.

Musiliu, popularly known as MC Oluomo, was elected by the Union’s delegates from Ondo, Ogun, Ekiti, and Lagos states during NURTW Zone 2 Quadrennial National Delegate Conference, held at the Council’s Secretariat in Osogbo, Osun state following the decision of the National body of the union to zone the position of the National president to the southwest.

Akinsanya who stood unopposed was nominated by the Ekiti State Chairman of the Union, Joseph falope and seconded by the Ondo State counterpart, Ademola
Odudu

Speaking after the election, the Acting National President of the NURTW, who was represented by the union’s head of finance, Adedamola Salam, emphasized that the process was in line with the Union’s constitution, adding that the conference would help chart a new course for the Union.

In his acceptance speech, Musilu Akinsanya appealed to all members of the Union to let go of past divisions and work together as a united front as he called on them to focus on actualizing core objectives of the Union, which he described as critical for the future, growth and unity of the NURTW.

Meanwhile, Tajudeen Agbede was also elected as Southwest’ Vice-president while Akeem Adeosun emerged as Southwest’ Trustee of the Union.
