Media organisations in Nigeria have been urged to rise up to their responsibilities and provide a platform for the voiceless.
There was the submission of participants at the 2026 anniversary lecture of Maurison Media group in Port Harcourt, the Rivers State capital, South South Nigeria.

The chairman of Maurison Media group, Chinyere Igwe, said the organisation has remained committed to its core values since it commenced operation in 2026
The keynote speaker, Prof. Armstrong Idachaba, highlighted editorial censorship, government interference and funding as some of the challenges confronting the media industry in Nigeria.
He also explained that the media will have to be resolute in the discharge of her functions.
Some of the participants commended Maurison Media group for sustaining the anniversary lecture and noted that the media would have to stand tall in order to shape opinions and provide equal access to all
The theme of the 2026 anniversary lecture is, “Media’s role in shaping social change, addressing inequalities and empowering voices”
