Nigerian gospel singer and worship leader, Nathaniel Bassey has sought the assistance of the Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun to investigate and prosecute four persons who falsely accused him of being the father of fellow gospel singer, Mercy Chinwo’s son.
Bassey’s lawyers have since filed a petition alleging criminal defamation and cyberstalking against the four social media trolls, namely Okoronkwo Ejike, Kingsley Ibeh, Terrence Ekot, and Dj Spoiltkid.

The singer’s lawyers harped on the gravity of the issue stating that such false accusations do not only harm his reputation but have broader consequences on his personal and professional fronts.
Recently, Mercy Chinwo and her husband shared a picture of their baby boy alongside the worship leader, Nathaniel while he was on a visit to the couple’s Lagos residence.
A picture the mischief makers jumped on making a mockery of Nathaniel Bassey as the real father of the baby in contravention of Sections 373 and 375 of the Criminal Code Act, along with Section 24(1)(b) of the Cybercrimes (Prohibition, Prevention, etc.) Act.
