The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) at the Michael Okpara University of Agriculture, Umudike, Abia State, wants the federal government to start renegotiation on the 2009 agreement entered into with ASUU to avert the impending industrial action
The chairperson of the University’s chapter of ASUU, Chikezie Ugwuene sounded the note of warning during a protest in Umuahia, the Abia state capital, to drive home their demands.
According to some of the Union members who spoke to AIT, the protest is to make the public aware of what it described as the inability of government to adhere to previous agreements reached – running the risk of causing crises in universities across the country.
