A political group, the League of Northern Democrats has sympathized with families of some civilians killed during military airstrikes against boko haram insurgents in Zamfara State.
In a statement by the spokesperson, Ladan Salihu, the political group described the killing as unfortunate and called for
urgent review and recalibration of the entire military war strategy to prevent further loss of innocent lives.
He said the review must include overhauling of the Nigerian army’s intelligence apparatus, enhancing its precision capabilities and improving coordination with ground forces to avoid recurrence.
The league of Northern Democrats called for adequate for Compensation to help families of victim alleviate their suffering and loss.
The movement insists that the protection of civilians must remain paramount in all military operations, saying that the ongoing war against terrorism cannot succeed if it erodes public trust and fuels resentment among the people it seeks to protect.
