Chief of Defence Staff, CDS, General Christopher Musa says, the military is poised to capture the bandits’ kingpin, Bello Turji who is operating in the Zurmi, Shinkafi, and Birnin Magaji areas of Zamfara State, North-West Nigeria.
The CDS stated this while meeting with Governor Dauda Lawal at the Government House, Gusau during his one-day working visit to Zamfara State. General Musa was accompanied by the General Officer Commanding, GOC, 8 Division of the Nigerian Army Sokoto and Force Commander of Operation Hadari Daji, Major-General JA Ajose and other senior Military officers.

They were in Gusau to appreciate and show solidarity to the people of Zamfara State over the security challenges, and said the military is ready to address the prevailing insecurity to ensure that communities are safe and peaceful for residents.
The CDS confirmed the killing of a bandits’ leader, Buzu Kachalla at Kwaren Kirya in Maru Local Government Area of the State by the military on Thursday, evening along with his fighters.
General Christopher Musa also disclosed that President Bola Tinubu has deployed additional helicopters and war armaments to fight the bandits in Zamfara State to restore peace, and normalcy as he also announced a new theatre operation called Operation Fansar Yaman to decisively deal with the bandits.

Governor Lawal commended the CDS for visiting the State at this time and the commitment of the Military to work with the Zamfara State Community Protection Guards which were carefully selected and trained to fight the bandits.
The Governor also condoled the military over the loss of lives of their personnel and police in an ambush by the bandits on Thursday morning.
Meanwhile, the Zamfara State Government has handed over operational patrol vehicles to the police to enhance their response to distress calls and patrol of the State to ensure a secure environment for the residents.
Governor Lawal handed over the operational vehicles to 16 Police divisions, two Mobile Police Force units and Counter Terrorism Unit, CTU, saying security of lives and property is topmost in his Rescuing Mission Agenda.

In the efforts of Governor Lawal-led administration to flush out terrorists and armed violent bandits in Zamfara State, the operational patrol vehicles were acquired and donated to Nigerian Police for accelerated response to security threats in the State.
While addressing the gathering, Governor Lawal took time to commiserate with the Police and the Nigerian Army that lost seven personnel in an ambush by terrorists on Thursday Morning. He assured them of bringing about many reforms that will improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the police and Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, in carrying out their constitutional duties.
State Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, Bala Muhammad, said the essence of the donation of operational patrol vehicles is to fully mobilise the police to response quickly to emergency security threats in the State.
Commissioner of Police in Zamfara State, CP Muhammad Dalijan expressed the readiness of the Nigerian Police to defend and protect residents of the State against activities of violent armed bandits who are unleashing terror on innocent citizens.
