The remaining four abducted female students of the Federal University Gusau in Zamfara State, North-West Nigeria have been rescued by the military.
Jacob Hassan, who is father of Naomi, one of the abducted students, confirmed the rescue of his daughter and others to AIT.live via telephone.
Noami, a 100-level student of the Department of Microbiology of the University, informed her father of their rescue by the military at about 2pm on Sunday, April 14.
She told the father that all of them were rescued, and were being conveyed by the military to Abuja for medical screening.
Jacob Hassan, thanked the Federal and Zamfara State Governments and the security agencies, for ensuring the safe rescue of the students.
It could be recalled that on September 22, 2023, suspected terrorists invaded the Sabon Gidan community and abducted female students of the Federal University Gusau from their off-campus hostels.
While some were immediately rescued by the military, others were whisked away. Eight of the 12 victims who were still in captivity were rescued about two months ago, while four were left behind.
The remaining four students have now been rescued.
