For Nigeria to become an industrialized nation, more attention should be paid to the research sector.
This was the view of the minister of mines and steel, Arc. Olamilekan Adegbite during his visit to Jos, the Plateau state capital where he visited some research institutions under the ministry.
The minister of mines and steel who visited the Nigerian institute of mining and geosciences and the Nigerian metallurgical development center both located in Jos , noted that more efforts should be put in research to enable the nation process raw materials thereby creating Jobs for the citizens.
While touring the Nigerian metallurgical development center, the director general of the centre, Engr. Linus Asuqo , gave an update on some of the feat achieved by the center while calling for more support.
With the nation gradually moving away from overdependence on petroleum products for foreign exchange earnings, investment in the steel industry will be a right step in that direction.
