The Organized Labour in Niger State has joined its counterparts nationwide, in response to a private bill, being sponsored by a Federal Lawmaker, Garba Datti, to provide legal ground for the removal of the national minimum wage from the exclusive list to the concurrent legislative list, which has already passed through the first and second readings.
Members of the Labour Union converged on the Labour House, where the peaceful protest commenced and terminated at the Niger State House of Assembly, Minna.
The Chairman of the Nigeria Labour Congress, Niger State Council, told Journalists after the march that it was unfortunate that the issue of removing the national minimum wage is coming at this time.

He said it may complicate crisis across the country, among the political and working class.
Yakubu Garba noted that the grounds for the protest include the National Assembly and the thirty-six State Houses of Assembly.
The state’s Organized Labour Chairman, maintained that in the event that the national protest fails to achieve the desired result, a national strike shall be the next option.
