The Minister of Education, Tunji Alausa, has joined Nigerians in celebrating the 2026 Children’s Day reaffirming the Federal Government’s commitment to nurturing, protecting, and empowering every child through inclusive and quality education.
As part of the celebration, the Ministry brought together children from different schools and backgrounds across Nigeria in a symbolic engagement aimed at amplifying the voices of Nigerian children and strengthening national commitment to inclusive education and child development.
The minister described Children’s Day as a reminder of the nation’s shared responsibility to safeguard the future of every Nigerian child through sustained investment in education, wellbeing, and opportunity.
Alausa said the day is about celebrating the strength, creativity, and limitless potential of children, adding that every Nigerian child deserves to be seen, heard, encouraged, and supported to achieve their dreams regardless of background or circumstance.

The Minister who also hosted young disability advocate and actress, Dera Osadebe at the Federal Ministry of Education Headquarters in Abuja.commended the activist for her advocacy and growing efforts in promoting awareness, compassion, and inclusion for children living with disabilities and autism across Nigeria.
He stressed that Dera’s courage and passion reflect the resilience and brilliance that exist in millions of Nigerian children, noting that her voice continues to inspire important conversations around inclusion, empathy, and equal opportunity for every child.
While encouraging Nigerian children to continue believing in themselves, developing their talents, and contributing positively to society, the Minister assured them of government’s continued support in creating enabling environments for learning and growth.
The United Nations has set aside the 27th of May each year to celebrate Children all over the world.
