Nigeria’s Minister of State for Health, Olorunnimbe Mamora, says the distribution of the Covid-19 vaccine will not be politicized when it arrives in the country.

The Minister said it will be distributed based on the vulnerability of persons to the disease.

He was speaking at the commissioning of an Infectious Disease Centre and an Emergency Operation Centre, in Jalingo, Taraba State.

The Infectious Disease Centre is the first in Taraba State and its establishment is timely with the surging cases of Covid-19.

Also commissioned is a molecular laboratory for the Lassa Fever test. All the projects are situated at the Federal Medical Centre,  Jalingo.

Nigeria’s Minister of State for Health and the Director-General of the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control, Chike Ihekpeazu, were in Jalingo to commission the projects.

The Minister of State said that Nigeria will soon access the Covid-19 vaccine and it will be administered based on priority.

He added that the National Agency for Food, Drugs Administration and Control, NAFDAC, will be on the watch out to ensure that substandard or fake Covid-19 vaccine does not make its way into the country.
