The Nigerian Senate on Friday received a request from President Bola Tinubu to withdraw the nomination of Maryam Shetty from Kano State, North-West Nigeria
Shetty was scheduled to appear before the Senate on Friday for screening, which was already on the order paper for the day. The letter from President Tinubu did not state the reason for the sudden withdrawal of her nomination.
In the same letter, President Tinubu made two fresh nominations of Dr Mariga Mahmud Bunkure and that of former Minister of State for Labour and Employment, Festus Keyamo.

According to President Tinubu, the request is in accordance with section 147 (2) of the 1999 Constitution (as Amended). The nomination of Festus Keyamo however brings the number of Ministerial nominees to 48.
