The Lagos State Ministerial nominee Tunji Alhausa says if confirmed as Minister, he will suspend the license of medical doctors who abandon their duties in government-owned hospitals to their private hospitals.
Doctor Alhausa, while responding to questions from lawmakers during his ministerial screening, said it was unacceptable for any doctor to prioritize the lives of those who patronize private hospitals while receiving salary from government.
He also touched on cases where patients who require emergency treatment are asked to produce a police report should not be needed, saying this practice must stop and saving the lives of patients an utmost priority.
The Ministerial nominee said he was unhappy with the state of NAFDAC, which he says requires urgent reforms to reduce the high rate of fake drugs in circulation in the country.

He says the government should invest more in primary health care to reduce the burden on existing healthcare facilities across the country.
Alhausa promised to embark on an aggressive awareness campaign on the Basic Health Care Provision Fund, a dedicated pool of funds to cater to the health needs of certain categories of persons.
Doctor Alhausa bagged a Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery from the University of Lagos in 1993.
He had his residency in Internal Medicine at Cook County Hospital, Chicago, between 1997 and 2001.
